The newly Constructed Building in Abimbola street, Ilasa area of lagos collapsed this afternoon around 2 PM with construction workers numbering up to 40 trapped inside the building. The Four Story building which was constructed as hotel caved in due to error in the architectural design.
the building construction started about 2 months ago and was completed in no time. according to one of the workers that escaped the collapse, he said the main bricklayer known as a Togolese came in today with his boys to construct Toilet on the "cut out" which eventually lead to the collapse of the building.
according to an eye witness living in the same street where the building is located, he said some of the trapped workers in caved in building called out begging to be rescued.
as at 4.30PM when this news was gathered about 17 were already pulled of the building with just about 3 of them badly injured and unconscious while the others are not guaranteed to be alive.
out of the 17 pulled out victims, majority of whom were said to be working outside the building roof.
One of the workers that escaped the collapsed of the building said he was coming in for the POP work when he was slightly delayed outside before the building caved in. according to him, at the time of Collapse, The Engineer in charge of the construction escaped by the skin of the air came out to receive Phone and after he went inside and when he got to the entrance of the building came out again with the mind to make another call and the building collapsed.
